Perennial Plant Society of Middle Tennessee

Scholarship Program

     The Perennial Plant Society of Middle Tennessee (PPSMT) is proud to offer two scholarships to college students studying horticulture or a related subject area. Students enrolled in two or four year programs are eligible to apply. Each scholarship recipient will receive $1,500 per year (two semesters) of successful college work. 

Requirements

Undergraduate students only are eligible to apply.  Applicants should be majoring or minoring in horticulture or a related field. For 2010 applications, applicates should have at least one quarter or semester remaining following spring term 2010. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. An interest in a career in perennials is preferred but not required.

Scholarship recipients must report academic progress to the Scholarship Committee of PPSMT and will be required to make a presentation to the society on their studies.

Scholarships may be renewed for one additional year upon reapplication.

Directions

Applications must be postmarked on or before June 15, 2010.

In addition to completing the PPS Scholarship Application (directions for downloading are below), applicants must submit the following:

Statement of Purpose

     On a separate sheet of paper, state why you wish to pursue a career in horticulture.  Describe your career goals and how a scholarship will help you meet them. Include your interest and work or study with herbaceous perennials.

College or High School Transcripts

     Please include a copy of your official college or high school transcript.

Recommendation Letters

     Three letters of recommendation, including one from an academic advisor or teacher explaining your interest in horticulture and perennials should be included with the application form.
